Our Commitment
Drive. is committed to ensuring our app and website are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. We believe private storage is a fundamental right, and accessibility barriers should never prevent anyone from exercising that right.
Accessibility Status
Accessibility Features
The Drive. app includes the following accessibility features:
- Screen reader support: Full VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) support. All UI elements have descriptive labels and hints.
- Dynamic type: The app respects system font size settings. All text scales appropriately up to 200%.
- High contrast: The app's monochrome design provides high contrast ratios (minimum 7:1 for all text).
- Reduce motion: The app respects the system reduce motion setting. Animations are disabled or reduced.
- Touch targets: All interactive elements have minimum touch targets of 44x44 points (iOS) and 48x48dp (Android).
- Focus indicators: Clear visual focus indicators are provided for keyboard and switch navigation.
- Notification customization: Users can configure notification preview content, sounds, and vibration patterns.
Screen Reader Usage
Drive. is fully navigable using screen readers. Key considerations:
- All buttons, links, and controls have unique, descriptive accessibility labels
- File names are read automatically as they appear in the file list
- Encrypted file status indicators are described (e.g., "Sent, Delivered, Read")
- Media attachments include alternative text where possible
Color and Contrast
Drive.'s monochrome design inherently provides excellent contrast. All text maintains a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 against the background. The app does not rely on color alone to convey information — status indicators use icons, text, and positioning in addition to color.
Known Limitations
We are actively working to improve the following areas:
- Image descriptions: Auto-generated alt text for user images is not yet available. Users can add custom captions to media.
- Custom font support: The app uses system fonts. Custom font loading is planned for a future release.
- Sign language support for video content: Native sign language interpretation for uploaded videos is on the roadmap.
Testing and Feedback
We conduct regular accessibility testing using both automated tools (Accessibility Scanner, XCUITest) and manual testing with VoiceOver and TalkBack. We welcome feedback from users with disabilities to help us improve.
